F0 Istlanum pair

Female looks ready, hangs by the divider all day looking for him but the only thing he does is bounce of the divider trying to get a piece of her. Tried putting them together but he was just too rough on her. Thinking maybe he's not mature enough yet (around 5-1/2"). She's been colored up like this for about a month now.

They are definately one of the nastiest species I've kept. Had two males but the one got knocked off recently when I tried keeping them together in a 120 with some other Cichlids.

I'm not sure if I've had worse luck trying to get a stable pair of ists or grammodes

The breed through the divider approach is the only consistent one I've heard of for ists. Good luck and spread some fry!

I got these a few months ago from Joefatfish. Part of the group he collected from Rio Amacuzac.
