So after waiting a while with no success for my F1 Rio Naranjo Trimacs to pair and no success with my F1 Rio Sarabia to pair....... I tried combining the two. I took the Male Rio Naranjo who is a jerk and my "Made by Satan" Big Rio Sarabia Female together, AND IT WORKED!!! They have paired up. So it is a given that the offspring will be little gremlins. But my question is this, did I do a No No? Is this Blasphemy? Taking and combining perfectly good F1 quality, when I'm sure that eventually I could have kept them "pure" as in collection point ...

Btw, I will post pictures eventually. Just too busy this week.

If you were to resell you could probably make more as to label them as F2 from a certain collection point. But you're still keeping the strain pure. I'd say go for it if it's working for you.

how many of the f1 rio naranjo trimacs did you grow out? I'm planning on getting a group of six as part of my order from Dan later this month.

personally I'm against mixing collection points, as it muddies the differences between the fish from different areas. Some fish look dramatically different coming from different rivers.

looking forward to pictures!

The Rio Naranjo I only had a pair.... The male was from Dan at COTA and the female was from TUIC.
The Rio Sarabia I had 5 in the tank and the Female was just too much of a Alpha.... Spawn of Satan.... Madusa...... Etc. It was like the males just didn't meet her standards. They weren't dominant enough. Cause she has taken to my Male butt hole R Naranjo VERY quickly.

Crossing collection points is generally a bad idea because you're mixing the unique genetic characteristics of both populations. The offspring might as well be hybrids to many people. Chances are, whatever you label them, someone else down the line will call them pure something or other...

Best as I can tell, Rio Naranjo, Mexico is in San Luis Potosi and Rio Sarabia in Oaxaca. Hundreds of miles apart. Anyone confirm that these are the actual collection points?
