I imagine it would be good to own at least one F1. Any thoughts?

Ummm....I don't think that will ever happen. I'm pretty sure they're protected in the wild and can't be imported from New Caledonia.

I believe F1s are babies from wild caughts.

I know that, what I mean is that the last ones brought from the wild to the US happened around 15 years ago and was made up of a couple dozen animals. Don't quote me on those exact numbers though. I know I've read about it somewhere.

well the problem is some ppl only see F1 being from wild caught, then other times you see it being from say the first parents of any new morph or something like that I was just reading it but very sleepy. Idk. Could be misleading.

I know now that ******* has an old wild caught male still breeding and ******* still has some from what it sounds like.

The F in F1 stands for filial... f1 means first filial...

Per Dictionary.com:
filial -
1. of, pertaining to, or befitting a son or daughter: filial obedience.
2. noting or having the relation of a child to a parent.
3. Genetics. pertaining to the sequence of generations following the parental generation, each generation being designated by an F followed by a subscript number indicating its place in the sequence.

So we are using it in terms of #3...

So "F1" is an incomplete statement...

F1 from wild... is what we generally mean when we say F1...

If I bought an animal from you that you bred in your tanks... it would be F1 from you...

It's somewhere between amusing and annoying how often we borry then butcher terms and theories from science :P
