Got my male carpintis and my female KKP to pair up. I know there's going to be a lot of culling (the reason I'm not a big fan of parrotfish hybrids) but excited to grow out some F1 red Texas. Both sides of the pot are lined with eggs and 90%+ are fertilized. Should be hatching either later today or early tomorrow =]

Lol, doesn't F1 mean the parents were wild caught? Either way be fun to watch, subbed!-)

When you're dealing with pure species, yes you are right. In the case of hybrids and such it just refers to how many generations they are bred to make that strain. If you get into hybrids you'll see all kinds of F1-F5/6ish kamfa and red Texas.

Ah I see, look forward to the outcome pal.

Cant wait!! Keep posting pictures. Im in serious search of a red texas to put with my new ebjd i just got

Thank you and I'll definitely make sure to keep a log on the ones I keep. I don't have any red Texas right now but I can get you the names of some breeders if you can't find any local. Just a warning... nice ones fading will cost usually a minimum of $100+ Shoot me a PM if you want

Ill definitely take some breeders names. I cant pm you yet in new to forum still need more post i believe

Awsome job, are they the only ones in your tank? Reason why I ask cause I'm looking at the same sinerio execpt my pair are shareing a tank with two loachs & a pleco, Im wondering if thats the reason she hasent laid any eggs yet?

There was a pleco with them but as soon as her tube dropped I removed them. And loaches are notorious egg eaters... evils bastards lol
