That is a bunch of serious brutes in the tank. What's your stocking list? They look great.
Beautiful fish! Do wild amps grow as large nuchal humps? Or do they grow larger in captivity because of all of the optimal conditions.
This tank should be called, Buddy's Bruisers. lol
They grow larger in captivity, especially when males are kept in the company of other males.

The Nuchal Hump in Amphilophus
This subject came up recently and while this may be common knowledge to some members I thought that I would share some information from some old research papers that discuss this in fish found within the midas complex. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/0016648075901367...

Ah makes sense, I know alphas are always larger and showier. its interesting that they go beyond the size they would if they were in the wild in order to outcompete tankmates.This tank should be called, Buddy's Bruisers. lol
