faded fh

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
fading refers to changing from one color to another, no you can't fix it, it's genetics. Some fish are line bred to fade (red texas.) They start green and peel into red. Not all of them will fade though, only the winners. You never know what you're going to get with flowerhorns. With hybrids all your fry turn out a lot different.

nuchal humps (kok) are all in the genetics too. Some 1.5" sport kok's, some fish don't get them until 6". With your fish no one will be able to say when it will get it, it might never get one. If it has good strong kok genetics it will have it when small. With most flowerhorns though it starts to show between 2.5"-4". If it doesn't show one by 4" it probably won't have a good one.

Stress has some factor in play too...

If a FH is left by itself it will get better same with color.. If it has other fish around and it is being picked on.. it wont be able to develop fully...

As for Faded FH.. u can't make a FH fade, the parent fish has to be the fading factor..

I believe your FH the ZZ malau is a 1st generation Malau I knew the former Owner of the fish.... it wasn't nolan's fish it was his friends.. Rocky..

try one of this type of Faded ZZ Malau..

I got one of them.. doing pretty well KOK hasn't develop much but i can start to see the bumps..

as mentioned by others kok and fading are genetics. you can fix it or alter them in anyway. since flowerhorns are hybrid its a mystery on how the fish will turn out as a fry. it can turn out to be something way better and it might turn out very weird. but as long as you love the fish, it wouldnt matter to you what others say. although we can give you opinions in the long run its up to you to decide. anybody disagree with what i say? :D
