My tank light went off about 2 hours ago. Its set to go off at 10, and it's midnight. I have a high fin spotted pleco, it looks like this: http://www.ratemyfishtank.com/images/thumbimg/3900_20.jpg
I haven't seen my pleco for about 3 days, and today I was going to feed it a zucchini slice. I was looking around for it, and it was sucking on the base of one of my fake plants. It didn't look right, so I turned the light on. When I saw the pleco, it's colors were all faded, and it looked like it had been dead for a while. Kind of like this, but a little worse: http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r232/ellner357/DSCN1053.jpg
I tapped the glass a few times, and it didn't move. I thought it was dead, so I got out the net. However, when I picked the plant up, the pleco darted away. My question is, why is it so discolored? I've never seen it this late at night. Is that just what it does in the dark to blend in better? Is it a disease? What's wrong with it? Thanks in advance
