"Fader"?????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
these fish are faders, the red devil was barred when small, then faded or peeled and turned orange, the red texas you can see is still in the fading process, it looked just like a regular texas cichlid before, and my JK flowerhorn looked like a regular ZZ flowerhorn when she was small. The fry are from my JK and Red devil, they are faders, as they will soon fade and look orange or red! hope this helps.

Most have a dark red where the white is on mine though.

You can't unless the breeder tells you, I bought some FH fry a year ago at 1.5" they looked like ZZ with very nice flowerlines and good potential, then at 4" they began to fade and looked like crap, I did'nt give them time to finish fading and grow out anymore they might not have loooked to bad, but I was pissed BC they looked way better the way I bought them, thats the thing about faders, If you don't know they have Fader genes in them you may get a not so great suprise like I did, even at 3.5-4" just before my FH started to fade he was looking awsome.

I personally prefer faders, but it's tough to tell with fry. I picked mine up at 1.25" and it had already started fading. Here's a pic of him when I first got him and a pic about a month later. I'll get a pic this weekend of him currently (about two and a half months after I first got him).
