I have, at this time, about 13 'faders' In my home, in several aquariums.
One large ~5 in (Orange/Yellow) "king" Midas, a baby midas ~3 in, 3 totally yellow parrots, one red parrot, one orange red devil and four short body RBK faders (Midas parrot x Synspillium). These guys look a lot like big fat colourfol midas, but are about 2-3 in long. All of them are in seprate tanks right now except for the miniture fish who are all together.

SO my question is this, Would I be crazy to try to put them all together? Most of them are mostly yellow except for the red parrot and devil, who are, coincidentally, a pair (though they fight often).
I saw this guys tank

which got me thinking it might be possible, though I believe that these fish are all brothers and sisters.

So what is everyones experience with this? Theoretically, if tank space was not an object (within reason), if I put them together, would they form a fader/midas/red devil society? Or would the big 5 in guy kill all the little ones?

Put them together in what ? A 20G ... no. A 300G .... yes.

Theoretically it might work OK. It would depend on the size of the tank, the temperament of the fish, whether they are used to living with others or not, the decor and territories available in the tank, etc, etc.

So, theoretically, it's possible, although the chances are probably against you.

if you have a big tank and you want to do it go ahead but be prepared for war(opentanks)

Depends on the tank size.
If you want to do it, and tank size not taken into consideration, have the tank bare bottom with no decor. What can also help is if you have just all male or all female fish.

The attached post- the owner is gonna need a bigger tank in a few months.

I think he needs a bigger tank yesterday,LOL

well yes, of course lol, but really what I'm getting at with this question this- In a very large tank would having a very large midas in with all the smaller midas, faders and devils result in the large midas simply killing all the smaller ones to thin out the competetion, or would the very large midas become something of a "godfather" like figure in the society, since he could obviously kill any of the smaller ones if he wanted to. What are people's experiences like this with south american cichlid colonies? Any ex cichlasoma... I'm just wondering if anyone has insight on how they shape their societies.

But to tell the truth, one of the reasons I thought of this is that if I put them together, collectiveley I could call them "King Midas and The Golden Faders" Which Is a great name for a band

BTW, That is just Cruisers grow-out tank. Hes not planning on having 25+ big aggressive territorial fish in a 125. Not happening.
9/10 flowerhorn communities crumble. With that much aggression your going to need at the very least 300gal.
Cramming a bunch of fish in a tank is disgusting, and never works out well, which is why you never see big flowerhorns in a community.
Its certainly possible if you have access to many fish, and can balance all the temperments and have FH's who arent insanely agro like most.
Heres somebody who does it proper. No FH though, but exremely proper set-ups with agro fish:

yes amazing set ups makes me wish i was rich.
wonder how he had all thos midas and amp.s in the 1st tank they most were all male

My 375 contains parrot, king kong, green texas, 2 female flowerhorn, and lots of midas with no problem. The smallest parrot being around 4.5" to midas being around 10-11". The majority of the fight is over pairing and rood to lay eggs.
The less female fish you have mixed in with the males, the better. Kinda like the old saying, " female are nothing but trouble.":D
