Fading then returning color on GT's

For some reason when I bought two juvenile GT's with great color like this, they faded after a week or so, and looked very plain, the thick edge on their tails was almost gone.

But now about a month later, and with some size on them, they are bouncing back, and the color on their tails is coming back just as strong and they're really looking good!


I've read that some farms add hormones to the water to make the GT's color really pop in juvenile sizes, in order to make them sell, since they look dull as juvies, is this true?


Anyone have similar experience as me?

it all depends of the stress level and what kind of diet your feeding them....

I've got young adults I bought at petsmart. They were dull when I got them. They are AMAZING now.

I didn't realize I was buying such a looker when I got mine,
They're so ugly and olive-brown/purple,
but when they grow their irridescence exploads.
It's 4am now and I can't wait to turn on my tank.
