Howdy all,

I currently have an 8" Fahaka in a 90 gallon temp setup that has started to act a bit odd.

The little bugger generally begs for food (unshelled shrimp, snails, frozen crays etc.), but as of recently, he just sits on the bottom of the tank and moves from one side to the other. This has just started within the week, and I'm quite worried about him. Very rarely does he swim off the substrate and when he does, he quickly sinks back to the bottom.

The water parameters are fine, I've even done some small unnecessary water changes to be on the safe side, but I'm running out of ideas. The only thing that strikes my memory is the fact that he recently got spooked in my passing and hit the glass somewhat hard.

Any general advice would be great, and if you have any questions, I'll be glad to respond to them. Thank you in advance for the help.

Thanks,

maybe its just getting to fat and it just wants a breather haha
i dont know but my freind has a puffer and it just sits at the bottom of the tank too but
maybe change his diet seriously that might work

aye, I agree. How often do you feed? When I overfeed my fahaka, he generally sits on the bottom of the substrate and rocks back and forth, ahahha. Try limiting his feeding.

Mine are doing the same thing, I actually have two in the same tank and they swim up and down the side of the tank together. The smaller one buries itself constantly. I am worried though because they usually go crazy for food day. I only feed them once every two days with frozen snails in the shells. My tank is fully cycled and healthy but I would like to know why my little guys are acting so strange. And yes I know that two puffers are not supposed to work but they do...I don't know how. Thanks
