Ok so I may be moving my baby fahaka pretty soon. It's only 2.5" long so it'll live in the 75g for a bit while I work on getting a 120+. Well now the question, how many and what size eheim canister filters would be necessary on the 120+? I also have a wet/dry ill be running along with those, not sure of the size though (not a huge one). Ill be putting the filters on the 75g while the fahaka is living in it. I will be using play sand as my subtrate, don't know if that matters when selecting filters...

Just aim for as high a turnover rate as possible... most people i think will say 4-6 times turnover an hour is the minimum for keeping fish healthy... although this being MFK, i've seen people say try and aim for at least 12 times turnover per hour...

Well I was thinking of using 2 eheim 2213s and my wet/dry with a mag 7 on it.

I'm guessing that should be okay? although wait for some other members to chime in as i haven't used an ehiem filter before...

I have 2x 110 Aquaclear filters & an Eheim 2217 non my 125g.

as long as the filter u put in can handle the bio load i don't think the turn over rate is a big deal. if your filter can handle the bio filtration at a 2X turn over then that will be fine. now if u want ur water to look clean and get all the crap out of there then yeah the higher the turn over the better the filtration. but putting the crap in the filter doesn't take it out of the system it just hides it.

For puffers, I recommend 10x turnover rate.

Personally I'de just run a solid wet/dry. bio capasity bio-capasity bio-capacity... and aim for a 10x turnover. I'm still learning with my fahaka as well but I stick to that rule with all my tanks. avoiding excessive tubeing in the tank is good imo. particualrly if your puffer ever gets bored as it gets bigger. Nitrates are going to be your biggest adversary so instead of running the eheims I'de put the money into maybe rigging up a FW alage scrubber or another nitrate reduceing set-up maybe a simple FW refugim. Some peopel go crazy w/ pothos type submergents, and other similar type plants. I've seen FW refugiums with reef type lighting growing anacharis and water hyicinthes or similar type. Personally this is the approach I'm leaning towards with my Fahakas future "permenent" home. granted it won't eliminate water changes but it should def help with them.
