Hello, I am still waiting for my tank to arrive (should be here next Thursday) but I wanted to get your ideas on how to create the best tank environment as possible. I will be having a sand substrate, and was planning on getting wood to make caves with. Does anyone else have any ideas what works well with the Fahaka? I was thinking about trying out some plants just to see whether or not he will leave them alone (current have my Fahaka in a quarantine tank, got him last Sunday from a LFS just so I can get him off the "junk food" diet of goldfish, and with the delays I have been having with my tank I figured might as well get him now and start a healthier diet with him) Anyone have any specific parameters that they recommend? Thanks for the help!

in my experience fahakas are very hardy, but an ounce of prevention is worth two pounds of cure. keep it warm, keep it clean, no sharp edges, no air(if he blows up with air he can get it stuck sometimes). sounds like youre dedicated, good luck :)

Fahakas love to play in the bubble stream, I highly doubt one will puff up with the air from a bubbler if that's what you were talking about; if not then yes make sure any transfers out or anything is constant in water. Regular water changes; and strong lid

I have 2 fahakas in 2 different tanks..both have sand substrate..One like to bury himself in the sand..the other doesn't. One has a bubbler and ignores it totally, the other doesn't.

we use lots of plastic plants and real wood and rocks to create lurking zones for them. they are both ITRO 3-4 inches long ATM.

Fahakas are highly intelligent fishwise..I'd put them at a ferret level of smartness..they can be easily acclimitsed to being pets and can flourish in the correct enviroment.

clean water, high filtration, and something to keep them intereasted..and the correct meaty foods..
