I have just purchased a 6" Fahaka Puffer and he stays in one spot most of the day, he has been in the tank since last Friday morning. He eats the marble crags that I feed him however that's the only time he swims is to eat. Then he goes right back to the bottom of the tank and he just sits there. He shows no interest in swimming around ever. He is in a 100 gallon tank and the filtration is extremely over board so it can't be bad water quality, plus I checked that already. Another thing is that he seems to be breathing heavy is this normal? I really need some help and advice, because I have seen other Fahakas to swim all day long and stay active

This sounds about right from my experience.

Mine sits around too most of the day. He gets excited when I'm around, or when he sees his feeding cup. Then he is usually pretty active for an hour or so after feeding where he's feeling firsthand. Then he burrows in the sand and goes to bed for the night or Parks in his corner to hang out for the day. Most activity is around feeding time.

it took mine about 2 weeks to get used to the tank????

I would say if your fahaka is not at all active then it could be that your puffer is bored in the tank... try adding more plants / driftwood for it to explore around the tank, and try changing up the decor every once in a while...

While it's probably still settling in, that is indeed how mine acted most of the time..

I had heard of how they are water puppy dogs and all that, but mine was a pretty boring to be honest..

It will take the fahaka a little more time to trust his enviroment. whenever I change anything in my big female fahakas tank, she pouts for a week or more by turning dark and sitting at the bottom. Once she relaxes about it she turns her usual bright color and follows me around like a puppy.

I am currently baby sitting one and he does the same thing had it for about 2 months and the only time he gets really excite is eating time.
