My fahaka puffer has been completely fine, always swimming and coming to the front of the tank to great me and always showing great colors. Well today I decided I would try to put a couple cheap fish in there to see how he does with them and to make his tank look not so empty. I fed him about 5 min before I put them in so he didnt think they were a snack. I got 5 giant danios that are about 2-3" because they are fast and not too small. Hes about the same size as they are but the second I put them in his colors just turned dark, I could tell he was stressed out.. This was maybe 4 hours ago. I turned the lights off to help him out a little bit but its not helping out at all. Hes been hiding behind the driftwood the whole time they have been in. He wont even come greet me anymore. Tank size is a 75g if that helps at all, temp is 78*, water parameters are great, I did a 50% WC yesterday (I do them once to twice a week). Do I just need to give it some time? I dont want to stress him out, I can move them if I need to, I just wanted to see if he would tolerate tank mates for me (he has killed an otto in the past). What do you guys think? Give it some time or move them out?

Things are getting a bit better i guess.. ill keep updating until someone can chime in to help out a bit.

Fahakas are drama queens, I wouldn't worry. Once yours fahaka realizes he can destroy those danios if he wants he'll be good to go.

Personaly speaking, that tank is really bare imo for a puffer of any kind... They like having caves and cover to explore and hide in...

So while your puffer will eventually get over the danios, i would seriously consider getting him more cover and eventually a larger tank...

I saw my LFS got 2 puffers labled Fahaka around 1 inch for 5 bucks each, so I bought them both and put them in 125G planted tank...it's funny that all the guppies suround the 2 all the time and bully them at feeding time LOL, it's been for a week now and everyone still live together happily...Can't wait until they clean up these guppies!
