Fahaka Puffer Temp Issue

So I've added a new oddball to my collection. Picked up a well started baby Fahaka.
I have him in quarantine right now but I've run into a little problem. I set the heater to 80 but when I just checked with my portable thermometer, the tanks temperature is 85.
I'm slowly bringing down the temperature but is 85 way too hot for this little guy?

Thanks. I already removed the heater. Going to grab a new one tomorrow. I'm just wondering if 85 is so high that Inshould be doing water changes to cool it down, or if I should just allow it to creep down slowly.

He should be fine at that temp for a while

Agree that short term will be fine, but wouldnt want to keep them in waters that warm long term if possible...
