Fahaka Puffer w/ Wolf Fish??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've had no luck (after many attempts) in keeping a fahaka with anything else. Didn't matter whether I introduced a new fish to the fahaka tank or moved the fahaka into a tank established with another fish.

Its often been said that there is a 99% chance your fahaka will NOT tolerate any tank mates, and 1% chance it will, and even in that 1% chance, there is a very large possibility, the puffer could one day turn and kill all its tankmates...

So to answer your question, most probably not a good idea unless you want to lose one or both fish...

They're two entirely different species. What sort of differences are you looking for other than different temperment, color, and size?

To be honest Oddball, I dunno what I'm asking heheh. I guess what I'm trying to ask is which one for you guys is more exciting to keep. Since I learned that these puffers must be home in a specie tank. So I can have one at the moment.

Well, unless you are planning on setting up a tank in the 500G+ range in the nearish future, a Fahaka is probably your best bet based on your current tank situation...

It comes down to individual behaviors. I've kept both species and have had both active swimmers and sedentary individuals. It's the luck of the draw as to whether your new puffer will be gregarious, interactive, and active or prefer to simply lay in the sand like a lump.
