Fahaka Puffer?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I won't say it's impossible. But, I will say it's highly improbable to house multiple fahakas in anything smaller than an olympic-size pool. I've kept 6 fahakas over the years and every single one had to be in a "1 fish only" tank due to the aggression they had towards any tankmates.

180 is not big enough to hold 3-5 fahakas; if ever maybe 2; but I would notrecomend it. I too have kept a fahaka and that thing was a beast. IMO your fahakas may just kill each other off. Although there are some that have been successful with keeping fahakas with tank mate but there are only very few. I know a guy who tried to keep 4 together but eventually there was only 1 left.

I wouldn't waste the money trying it in anything less than a 1k tank.

I wouldn't even try. You will most likely, likely being 95%, end up with 4-5 dead fahakas. My fahaka lives with a common pleco, and 2 arulias barbs. The barbs are lucky because they are too fast to be eaten... yet, and the pleco, well he doesn't have a tail... They as a whole are not the most friendly of fish, towards other fish, and will gladly take down any crab, clam crayfish, or snail that enters their tank. The keepers fingers are not off the menu either. Anything put in the tank with them is living on borrowed time. I have heard of someone keeping numerous fahakas together, but that was 8 and it was in a 800 gallon aquarium.

you are quite lucky to find one fahaka that will be happily housed with other fish. the odds are probably getting very small when your thinking about that number

I think it's all already been said. But even though you may only have one fish in the tank, it will truly be a monster!

There are a few '1 fish only' species. I think wickii cats fall into this category as well.

Don't do it. You've been told this on other forums as well. Everyone says the same thing, Don't try it!

Bad idea! I have 2 Figure 8 puffers in my 75 and they are monsters and pretty agro
