Fahaka puffer

looking for general idea's for decor I guess will be in 100 gallon 30" x30" x 26" tall going to have a piece of pvc tubing and was going to pile some drift wood on it to not make it so obvious it's a tube. Guess that's where i start. what ideas you guys have. thanks:D

The new Q so I heard most of all freshwater puffers have parasite's what is good to take care of them?


150 gallon --stocking--
100 gallon cube coming for Nile Puffer
65 gallon semi-agressive community
30 gallon planted tetra
30 gallon saltwater reef
25 gallon goldfish
 
I have asked for this thread to be moved to the Puffer section.

I have never had a parasited puffer, anyway...
 
I've had to de-worm every puffer i've ever owned at least once... Especially those that are wild caught such as the Fahaka...

In the US i think jungle parasite tabs are commonly used to treat IP's by dissolving it in a cup of tank water, then soaking your puffers food in it to ensure maximum effect...

My only worry would be how suitable a Cube tan would be for a fahaka, since once fully grown will reach up to 17", so a 30" x 30" seems like it could be a little small?

I agree 30 X 30 could be a little cramped but it certainly wouldn't be the worst scenario the puffer could live in. I use API general cure to treat for IP's since it's not as harsh as some of the other meds and it seems to work well

How long do you suspect a young Fahaka puffer could be adequately housed in the 100 cube? The one I am getting ( for the wife :)) is around 3-4 inches, hes been at a lfs for a month or so now and just waiting to get the tank in.

It says that you are stocking a 150 right now? I think you should put the puffer in there, a 150 is perfect for a fahaka

The150 would most likely be a much better fit for your puffer...
