76710DDD-94C1-4AD1-AD3A-C872B3B36217.jpeg I have had before in Japan but could not bring back to the USA. My question is a have a 240 gallon hex tank so I do not have the length of a standard tank.... how do you think a fahaka would do in this type of tank?

120 wide is considered the minimum. So you want 2' wide by already 4' long. I think a 180 should be the minimum

So in your opinion the hex is not good? Since at the widest point it is only 42 inches? The 180 gallon statement doesn’t matter since this tank is 240 gallons

Im talking about foot print. This is more important than odd shaped volume. I'm not sure what the footprint is, but I'm pretty sure it's not 6ft x2 ft so in this case a 180 is probably superior to a hex 240 even though the hex has more volume.

If the bottom is at least 4ft x 2ft then it's a judgement call. Anything less than that wouldnt be good long term for a fahaka.

I understand that. I don’t have the 180. I understand it would be better.

I agree, while a 4’ x 2’ is considered the min. Tank size for a Fahaka normaly, i also prefer to recommened a standard 180G (6’ x 2’) instead...

Mainly due to the fact larger puffers pack on quite a lot of size on and when spooked can move a fair amount of distance quite quickly
