Fahaka stunt

So a year ago I sold my 6 month old fahaka to the lfs because I was going to have to take my tank down I just went to said lfs and they still have him he's about 9 inches and in a 20-30 gallon tank alone but they can't put him in any bigger tank... He is skinner then when I had him but how much damage could be done to him as far as stunting? If I got him back and put him in my 220 could he live a full happy life or is there too much damage done?

I think it is still young enough to have some hope. I'd definitely save it.
