does anyone have any tankmates that used to be there and still are when the puffer was in the tank??
like bichirs, eels??i know their aggressive fish and either kill or mess up anything in sight but has anyone actually tried it???

i got my fahaka back from my lil brother :) now he has my 17 inch fire eel,7 inch albino, 8 inch palmas polli bichir, 9 inch delhezi bichir, and 4 "6 inch hujeta gars, hes happy with them as i am happy with my puffer poseiden :)

My fahaka currently lives with a pleco and yellow lab cichlid for the last 2 years with no problems... although i'll be the first to say i don't normally recommend people mix fish with fahakas since they can be very easily turn into killers...

I guess i should also note that i did at one stage try adding in 15 fast moving schooling fish, but they all disappeared within about 2 weeks...

whoah????
u dnt think it would be allright in with a bichir or freshwater moray eel?? how big does urs measure by the way???

^ Replied to your PM... but i think to be very honest, no one can really say with certainty if a fahaka will tolerate tank mates... i kinda had to find out the hard way by trial and error with an extra tank setup on the side incase i needed to separate the fish due to aggression issues...

Personally, i'm going to ere on the side of caution and say probably not a good idea mixing a eel and bichir with a fahaka due to the potential damage a fahaka can cause if it decides to turn killer...

My fahaka lived with my datnoids but, sadly my fahaka died a month ago :(

I'm actually curious to know how long that combo worked out for? coz in the past i've though about doing that but didn't want to risk it...

And just to make sure no one mis-understands me... i'm still not ever planning on putting one in with my Fahaka..

I had my fahaka for a year and two months. Thats how long he stayed with the dats. He basically grew up with the dats. All my dats stood their ground and fought back if my fahaka ever tried to nip at them. I noticed that my fahaka realize he couldnt compete with them so he just never tried to take a chunk out of them.
When It came to feeding I was a little worried because I was scared my fahaka might accidentally bite the dats lips off, but it never happen.

Here is an old picture. This picture was taken with one of my dat a few weeks after I got my fahaka.

Nice... yeah, i guess the size of the fahaka also helped, since your dats seemed pretty big already at that time...

BTW, do you know what happened to your fahaka? and sorry for the loss...
