Greetings,
I’d like to ensure my pleco is getting his fair share of food in my community tank. A strategy I’ve thought about is to use an auto-feeder and drop an algae wafer at night (or some schedule). My thinking is that the pleco would be more able to find the wafer dropped at night than during normal feeding time where the other fish get it first.

Any thoughts?

What are the tankmates? You could just throw in a algae wafer after shut the lights off for the night or throw in a slice of cucumber or zuchini.

Depends what type of fish we're talking about.

My silver dollars and red hooks will still tear up wafers that I drop in after lights are out.

To get around that, I try to distract them with flakes or some other floating food. Also, if possible, find an area where you can place wafers that the community fish won't get to. My plecos hang out under a rock that my silver dollars can't steal food from.
