fake football pitch grass in my tank?

astro turf test!
hey all, ive done a bit of a google search on astroturf in the fishtank and come to the conclusion im gonna test some in my 5 gallon... i ordered a enough for my 150g cichlid community too, if all goes well! i know everyone says its gonna leak this an that and do terrible things but as theres no actual evidence that ive found... well other than lots of people voiceing what they think'll happen... either way its all made differently in different places by different companys and i figure some of it must be safe? im gonna give it a go anyway! :WHOA:

the reptile dudes use it in humid vivs with no ill affects!!!

i'll try it first with a hardy cichlid and pleco keeping a close eye, then i plan too throw in something more fragile, maybe a neon or guppy.....

ive bought some commecial grade 40mm soft graded mating with a woven tarpooling style base, its on its way from an ebay seller, i'll keep you all updated on my guinea pig tank!

anyone ever tried it?

The first thing that comes to mind is how hard it would be to clean but it might be a good bio filter, like substrate. let us know
 
yeah i thought about that but you would need a good amount of rocks and make sure to put the grass down before you fill obviously
 
yeah im betting it'll float an have some big river rocks already in there, as far as cleaningim betting the gravel clean will work like a hoover, also the base should be half as good a biofilter as gravel i reckon phantom.... i'll post up some pics as soon as the test tank is running an the a wwek or two later if all is well the 180g is getting its!

lol z maybe a pool table with balls to push!-)
