Has anyone tried using plants you could get at like Jo Ann Fabrics or Hobby Lobby in their tanks? I know I read somewhere about someone wanting to try it and I have seen that a lot of fish stores are now selling these silk plants.

I know you would want to avoid any with the wires in them but other than that, what do you guys think?

use plastic plants silk is known to break down after several months in tanks submerged

that is what i was thinking, more the plastic. i saw some really awesome, realistic looking ones that i may go get tonight. it's hard to find plants that look real, when you want the more realistic look without the pain of real plants.

I use them in some of my tanks. But just make sure to change them out every few months because like Bhardon said they do break down. But they are so cheap at the craft stores that it doesent matter all the much. Also if u want some fake plants that are cheaper goto your petstore and go to the reptile section they have lots of plant that are cheaper.I bought some hanging plants there and were cheaper than the same ones they had for aquariums.I think once they put aqurium on the label they can jack the price up. But that goes for lots of stuff though to.I like getting all be decerations at craft stores so much cheaper for basically the same thing at the petstore.
