Somewhere
So I have recently been looking to get into falconry (I know.. like I need another expense in my life lol) and though I wont be able to really get into it for quite a while (takes A LOT of time, work, money and space) I plan on going out with this guy and probably some others as often as I can so I can learn and experience the life with them.
The person I went out with today is currently flying a young female red tail. Unfortunately it was slim pickins today and we only found one squirrel...which she didn't catch, but she still got a good treat of course and made for some excellent pics!

One of the coolest hobbys, no question about it. For me the fav species is european eagle owl and barn owls.

If only... I would love to do falconry.

lol don't call it a hobby! They hate that apparently *rolls eyes*
It is very cool and definitely something I am going to look into more. but with work and school i don't think i will be able to actively pursue it for a couple years at least

I have that on my list to take up falconry one day when the kids are older and the money is a little more stable.. (fish room is finished)

if luv to do this but it is expensive and time consuming. i want my serval permit more.

Id luv to raise one of those tiny little hawks. those would be awesome but difficult to raise

Great pics! Falconry is definitely a neat hobby I'd love to get into someday. A friend of my father's hunts with a Harris and Red-shoulder Hawk.

nice you got some good shots there too. I looked into this a while ago but could never find anyone to take on an apprentice so I gave up. I think it takes like 5 years to get the license too. I am too impatient for that. 2 years for my VRC was difficult enough. Good luck with it though.

5 years to get a 'master' permit to work with with eagles. 2 years for a general permit to work with stuff other than red tails and kestrals. but you do need a mentor and all sorts of other regulations before you can your apprentice permit
