Hey my store i work at has a myan cichlid 2 inches very aggressive we tried putting it mixed tank adding a larger convict, almost killed the convict and green terror that were larger than it so we took them out.

QUESTION are these cichlids that bad? THey act way worse than the true red terrors i have seen who are not even that bad at all.

What do you think? I THink they are on like flowerhorn level of aggression worse than devil or jags.

In any small tank, Mayaheros uropthalmus will be overly aggressive.
Even in nature they are very aggressive, and it may be the reason they are so successful in whatever area they are able to colonize. Introduced in Florida they have become avery successful alien invader.
If you check out the video I made in Mexico, where they are endemic, you will see plenty of wounds and tore fins from battles. One of the reasons they were given the name Red Terror (maybe before festae were also given that moniker)

I really don't say they are worse or better than anything else. I kept uropthalmus in a 150 gal tank years ago, and they spawned in that community setting without a problem, and without overt aggression. As long as other cichlids stayed out of their side of the invisible DMZ, all was fine.
I believe with proper tank size, and other appropriate environmental conditions such as proper current, water parameters, optimum temp, and the right tank mates, most cichlids will not be overly aggressive.
But I really believe its mostly about space, any cichlid over 10" needs "minimum" of 100 gallons, anything larger might need 300 or more gallons.
