I don't know what combination of cichlids contributed to the creation of this little Red Texas, but it worked. He is another big box store beauty, but doesn't look like a Kamfa, or a Texas × Blood Parrot type. IMO, maybe a Green Pearl
Scale Texas × Trimac?
I don't really care if this one fades. His current colors & intense pearling are the best I've seen in a while. His eyes are black with a hint of red, and is just under 3" long. I hope he is fertile. My other big box store unfaded Red Texas looks as if it might be female. Note: I've had better results with Petsmart RT's
than those bought special ordered from my reputable mom & pop LFS.
The little guy is currently in a 65 gal. QT with various tetras & SD' s. I've only had him a day, but no aggression issues yet. He feeds like a typical Texas, sifts through the substrate. If things positively progress I'll post additional pics.

Thanks for the reply. I agree, probably a Non-Fader, but not a typical one. I've had a few of those. Sadly, I have spent some big bucks on "typical" RT's.

Just an update on my Red Texas Cichlid. Thanks to a steady diet of grasshoppers, and sadly a few tankmates, the RT has more than doubled his size. He has developed a good sized nuchal hump and has quite a good set of teeth. He is getting a bit more red in the fins and between the pearls. Definitely a wet pet, not community oriented. IMO, he looks more like a Flowerhorn. Probably my best looking fish.20181010_093232.jpg 20181010_092244.jpg

Very nice texas hybrid, the colors pearling are above average id say
