i never hear of feeding rays with vegs, what is your view??

i remember michaelh saying some of his eat potato's meant for his pleco's.... ive gotten my rays to eat sinking algae wafers and other spirulina wafers etc.... if it will eat it and its good/healthy then let the ray have it...

What was the name of the book?

Yeah, which of the four books on freshwater stingrays was it?

My old rays loved algae wafers!

When we went behind the scenes at the newport aquarium they would put veges in with there fish in order to put the nutrients back in the fish that freezing takes out. Or vitamins.

I like to stick to as natural a diet as possible. That being said, I have read about trace amounts of plant matter being found in the GI tract when wild rays had their stomachs irregated in an effort to understand feeding.

Are these trace amounts of plant matter possibly from consuming herbivorous/omnivorous prey that has recently eaten plant matter? Or do you think the rays are actually purposefully ingesting plant matter as complement to the diet?

Rays diet in the wild consists of alot of crustacea that feeds primarily on vegetation..

So, a vegetation supplement should be considered when feeding..

My personal opinion is that's mostly accidental intake while 'hunting' other prey, but much needed to maintain proper health.
