I have 3 breeding pairs of peacock endlers and 1 pair of fancy tail guppies in a 20 gal. bare bottom 74degrees. it has a buncha hornwort floating for cover. my question is, its been about 2 months with the 2 fancy tails and a month with the enders and no fry! what give? they were supposed to be SUPER easy to breed! ive never put them in breeder nets together i thought id just let em do their thing. thx

come on guys!

not sure, I've never had an issue with livebearers NOT breeding, is there anything else in the tank with them? I keep guppies 1m-3f and it seems to keep the males from stressing the females too much, although I've noticed that if one female is considerably larger than the others, the males will go after her 90% of the time.

Since the females can store sperm for months at a time, and have multiple batches of fry with that stored sperm, odds are usually that they are already pregnant if you've purchased them recently. So if we start with that idea then maybe they are stressed. What kind of diet are you feeding them? What are the water parameters like? Given that they had to acclimate to a new environment it may have stalled them on the breeding process.

I've kept guppies in 8.0-8.6 PH before and they acclimated fine, but did not reproduce at all for the few months they were in it.

Endlers and guppies can interbreed also, so be ready for that possibility.

have you seen any gravid spots? if so than the fish have deffinetly given birth its just that maybe all your fry are dying or something like that

I didn't see fry for about three months after purchasing my guppies, so it may be that yours were too young or are too stressed to breed yet.

Also, they may just be eating the fry before you see it. If you notice the female with a gravid spot and getting a huge boxy appearance, stick her in one of the separation boxes or a breeding net or something, and let her chill in there for a while until the fry are born, then remove her and keep them in there. I like my breeding box because it has a floor that fry fit through so that they won't get eaten by the mom.
