Just wanted to k now the secrets of the pros... Ive been feeding nightcrawlers, silversides, and hikari carnivor pellets steadily, and the rays seem to love it.. any faster way to pack the weight on? Thanks for all opinions...

well... good clean water... temp at 86F. and lots of food.. I feed my pup tank 4-5 times a day... they will get meat real quick..

Thanks for the input.. I change the water 25% weekly and 50% every other.. My temp is round 81-82, do you think that is significant? Thanks, Nick

Depending on tank size, I would plan on larger water changes if you plan on several feedings a day....

food with alot of calories, protein and fat.

that is how you pack weight on any fish

Silversides, shrimp and night crawlers. Pellets are also great but with the amount of rays i have and cost of hikari pellets i would go broke. Bump the temp to a minimum of 84-86 and you should be doing 25% W/C 3 times a week at the least. I would do more.

since he eats sinking pellets, just stuff him with that. pellets have the most mixed amount of everything you need and whenever i feed a certain fish JUST pellets his growth rate is like 5x faster then feeding shrimp/smelt combo. there's so much protein in pellets these days. and ur lucky enough to have yours actually take it.

my ray has quadruppled in size since i got him in feb. by stuffing him with pellets. but mine eats them at the surface.

Hi,

a lot of Oxygen is one of the most important when u give allot of food and make the temperature high for let them grow.
Because making the temperature high and feed allot without adding much more Oxygen like thrue a Wet/Dry Filter it won´t grow really faster.
And the "individual-rate" so if your tank is completly over-stuffed it won´t grow as fast as it would without houndreds of community-fish.
