what is the fastest way to get your loaches to grow? whats good to feed? more w/c's? i just got 2 planning on getting 2 more and want htem to get big as fast as possible thanks for all help in adavance

If you are talking about clown loaches...

No matter what you do, it's going to take a while to grow them out. Keep them in good water and feed them 2 to 3 times a day. I feed mine a mix between frozen worms, shrimp, and assorted flakes. I also have made some of my own foods for my guys.

oh yea clown loaches i forgot =) haha what things have you put in your own food that you made? i guess ill start feeding them this weekendish after they get used to the tank?

I got the mix from loachesonline. It had....spinach, V8, prawns, shrimp, carrots, and some other things that I can't think of right now.

I put it all in a blender with some gelatin mix and froze it in some zip lock bags. They also like to eat my plecos zuchini.

In the proper sized aquarium with perfect water conditions they grow very quickly. 50% water changes 2-3 times per week will help the most. Blood worms and shrimp will help fatten them up.

I bought three clowns in March they have grown very fast this has surprised me because I have also herd they are very slow growers. They have at least doubled in size. I feed them very well, a variety of frozen (brine shrimp, krill, blood worms, silversides) also a variety of good quality of dry wafers and pellets. Live food crickets, mealworms, and earthworms. And Veggies, zucchini, chopped frozen spinach, shelled crushed peas.

Lots of partial water changes, and I read some where that a good oxygen level helps. (I have a wet dry trickle). Sounds like a lot of work and $$ but I consider my self a dedicated hobbyist (My wife calls it something else) but we wont go there.

The best growth rate I have ever seen on a clown loach came from a live blackworm, and a beefheart mixture I made. In only a few months this loach has put on a couple inches, and has gotten very deep in body height.

The quickest way to make any fish grow is to have perfect water conditions, and to feed a good diet, with the space to grow. A good diet would include a variety of foods, mainly protein based diets. Also the way you feed, dont feed a lot once a day, but a moderate amount throughtout the day, 2-3 modest meals. Don't overfeed, but allow feeding to occur regularly.

I know EXACTLY what you're talking about ... and she's not even my wife yet!

My clown loaches don't grow quickly, and they definately grow slower than their tankmates, so their growth rate is hard to determine. They eat anything that hits the bottom (including shrimp, mealworms, bloodworms, fish fillets, pellets, etc..) and some of them will even snatch floating pellets from the surface..

I LOVE CLOWN LOACHES! :D

well i started off with 2 got 3 more so had 5 tonight 1 died, not sure of what.. then now 1 is missing? im not sure im thinking my brother threw it in my other tank and it got eatn -.-" but now im feeding shrimp pellets durng like the morning/afternoonish and bloodworms at nightish, im guessing this is ok? ill try getting flakes and stuff, where can you get live blackworms from btw?
