Fathead minnows/rosy minnows breeding

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They do need filtration and good one too cause you don't want to breed then keep a bunch of sick fishes or dead one, breeding them easy enough...just get a bunch of them into 5 or 10 gallons tank and some clay pots, they will pair up and laying eggs inside the pots they chose.
*Plastic container is fine as long its at least 5+ gallons and good filtration (petsmart has good source of rosy and thier fish fairly healthier than most LFS selling rosy as live feeder).

I put 7(rosys) in a 2,000 gallon + intex pool about 4 years ago and they spawned like crazy within weeks(had 100's). I also had goldfish and Koi in there.

However, Last year I put 10(rosys) in a 12.5 gallon mini pond by themselves and nothing has happened.

I did have a hiding cave in the intex pool and there's not really any hiding places in the mini pond, so I don't know if that's the difference.
