Father son fishing trip...

My dad and I plan on heading up north for a 6-7 day fishing/camping trip. Anyone know of any good Provencal parks around the Sudbury Ontario area or slightly farther north? We plan on taking a canoe and tent so a park close to a lake or river would be ideal.

Originally we were thinking of going to French River Provencal Park but realized that all the camp sites are only accessible by boat. No good.:(

i actually just got back from Oakville, Ontario and me and the family went to Parry Sound (ontario), south of where you are and we caught a lot of rock bass, pike and large mouth very nice place... uhm ive been to lake nipissing(south east) and caught some decent size pike and muskies.

Im actually located in Southern Ontario. We've been to Parry Sound, Killbear, Bon Echo, and Long Point but never lake Nipissing. I'll look into that one.


Anyone know anything about Killarney or Sturgeon Bay?

Just thought I'd give this a BUMP in case anyone has any other suggestions. We should be leaving tomorrow.


EDIT: oh yeah. what kind of line strength should you be using for catching larger fish in the 10"-20" range? I currently have 6lbs test on my fishing rod, probably wont hold right?
 
For most 20" sport fish a mono around 14lb test should do well. It can be done with any line you just have to play the fish alot on smaller lb test.

If your rod is smaller and not made to hold 14lb test you could go with a braid like spider wire. They have a much higher lb test rating per diameter compared to mono.

I don't like braid, but it is a option for you.
