Hey everyone,

I've been wanting to set up a SA tank with some earth eaters but I have not been able to decide on which species to accomidate. I have been leaning toward satanoperca leucostica because of ron burgandy's beautiful set up.

I have a 240 G and all my params are normal. My ph is around 7.2 and temp is about 74. I do not want any overly aggressive fish. I don't want to have to worry about them killing each other.

If you could choose which species would you keep and why?

Thanks for all your opinions.

mine would have to be geophagus dicrozoster and geophagus redhead tapajos because the have more color and are nice looking in a group. :D

They're all awesome. No matter which you choose, it will be the right choice. In a 240 you may be able to keep 2 or 3 of the medium growing species. You should bring your temp up to the high 80s/ lower 90s. I would just stay away from brasiliensis if your worried about aggression. The rest can be a bit nippy, but will not necessarily kill each other.

Personally I love Retroculus Xinguensis and Geophagus Tapajos. Secondly Geophagus Iporangensis. Brasiliensis's are nice too. All geos are usually very nice fish. Why i like those? Color and personality, even though I havent had experience with all of these.

I am partial to Geo. Altifrons and Satanoperca Daemon. IMO daemon have the most color of the satanoperca. The Altifrons are a stunning fish that seem to get along with other tankmates reasonably well.

Xinguensis are nice, but I would sell my soul for a Lapidifer

Imo Daemon are the nicest of the Satanoperca, closely behind is Acuticeps. Problem with Daemon, is they need extremely low ph. They would not stand well in 7.2.

X2,

I love the daemon color compared to the other satanopercas.

I would have to say Satanoperca daemon, Geophagus taeniopareius (I love the black strip throught their eyes), and I love Guianacara too.

Thanks fellas. I really appreciate the input especially the links nemesis altho I'll have to wait till I get home to check em out cause my black berry sucks balls.

Any more opinions are greatly appreciated
