good old chicken liver and beer for Channels

I first go bream fishing. then I use whole bream on a circle hook through the tail.. so they will swim away from the line and the hook is the last thing in the mouth of the catfish.

I use a good size lead (depending on current) weight above a leader with a swivel on it.
And I have about a 3 foot leader going to the hook.


I fish in a river so it may be different from what you use, but I catch some monster channel cat and flathead's this way.

I have caught few good size channel cats from the canals and chicken livers worked great .
I suspect they will hit anything if they are in the area .

I use alot of shrimp here;chicken liver some,cheese bait alot too in the hotter months.
float alot of slip bobbers using leaches around rip-rap when the cats are spawning,theres a few places on the river here you can really catch a boatload doing this,and BIG ones too..

i catch some creek chubs at the local creek, cut them in half or use some smaller live ones, ive caught more big channels this way then any other way. liver works good for eatter size but i never got one over 5 or 6 pounds, ive got them up to 15 on the creek chubs
