FBF blowing sand in to tank

I have a Rainbow FB-300 and keep the fluidization level way below the max line. Still, over the past few months I have blown about 1/3 to 1/2 of the sand in to the thank.

I tried putting an o-ring gasket with a wire mesh screen inline on the discharge but it just becomes clogged and kills the filter's flow.

Any thoughts on how I can keep the sand in the filter, or at least recapture the sand?

Sounds like maybe the sand you're using is too light, or there's too much water flow. What kind of sand is in it? What GPH pump are you running through it?

Try lowering the level a little more, you only need it enough to fluidized which is barely above the compacted state. It should not be blowing sand out if set up correctly. I can attest that I have had the same filter running for over 2 years without any loss of sand or maintenance.
