Mine is about 6" now.
They eat the same as my bichirs, carnivore pellets, left over feeders, shrimp. I also added quite a bit of vegetable based prepared foods that they seem to relish.
The love a good hiding spot and when put on light gravel the turn brown with black dots.
When placed on black or very dark gravel they turn so dark you can barely see their spots. I found with mine only started getting really nice feathers at about 4".
If your tank is not bigger than 90gal I would not put more than one unles you have ample hiding spots. They hate members of the same species. two of mine fought in a 300 gal but it was bare bottom.

Right now they are in the 33 gal but I have a 125 they will be put in.
I am refurbing the 125 stand and have it broke down.
So as for hiding spots I think I will do PVC then glue some of the rocks to it and have them call it home.???

i thought they had a max size of around 7-10" but i have also heard a few people say they can get to be 12 "or even a little bigger.
but the biggest i have seen personally is about 8"
can anyone confirm size of these guys ?
My feather fin is around 2 inhes and hasnt been agressive toward other catifish. I read that they dont get agressive with fish that cant pick on, like reaphels, and i have 4 lol. He hides and swims every once in a while. My featherfin hasnt grown his "feathers" yet but cant wait till the start to grow. Mines fins were damaged at the lfs so i rescued him.
