So my pond is full of snails but it also has few mountain cloud minnows. I was wondering if I put my featherfin in to demolish the snail, if it will still try to eat my minnows? anyone have experience with this.

Why do you think it will go after snails? Synos are not particularly known to eat snails (in general).

If real hungry, it will make due with what it has, minnows or not, algae, detritus, feces, slime coat on large fish, etc.

oh I was misinformed then, I read other places that synos are quite good at eating pond snails, mainly because pond snails have relatively soft shells. if that is not the case then, nvm. But I see they are a true generalized omnivore.

Would you please point us to where you read it?

Although snails are not their common food, I'm rather positive it will make due with what it has. Soft shell is better. They are very highly resourceful.

PCF: http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=121 Bloodworm, Sinking Catfish Pellets, Doromin

FishBase: http://www.fishbase.org/summary/Synodontis-eupterus.html Feeds mainly on insect larvae but will also take algae

SeriouslyFish: http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/synodontis-euptera/ Synodontis are omnivorous and are most unfussy in terms of feeding. Frozen, live and dried foods are all accepted. It also relishes vegetable matter in the form of shelled peas, cucumber etc., which it will rasp at with the teeth in its lower jaw.

I forget where I read it when I was googling it, but it was anecdotal evidence, a few different post where people said there featherfin loves snails.
I might give him a try, but I might just let the population get big.

The thing is I have a healthy population of cherry shrimp and ghost shrimp in the pond too, so I was thinking what would go after the snails more than the shrimp.... the featherfin came to mind. But if he finds it easier to eat my sleeping minnows in the middle of the night, then no way jose.

I wont use assassin snails because I don't want to risk introducing them anywhere out here, im close to the beach and far from freshwater but still, don't want to be an irresponsible fish keeper.
