Heat and salt should help. Can do this for 3 weeks and should clear up by then.

Do a big water change and gravel suction. Then add 1tsp per gallon repeat again after 12hrs then again after another 12 hrs. So should be a total of 3 tsp per gallon.

Kee ur temp up to 86 degrees.

Do this for 3 weeks and should be gone eventually.

Other option:
Meds available. API and kordon have good ich products.

With a planted tank, the salt could harm the plants.

Use Seachem Paraguard, which will not harm plants and has to be dosed every day. Treatment will be for 2-3 weeks, so get enough of it. Temperature can stay in the low 80s.

My local privately owned fish store has identified it as a bacterial infection, at first it looked like ich, so I added salt, but it was only my second time using salt so I added it all at once, rookie mistake, but that made it a bit worse, thank you for your help.

Still could be from the salt being added at once. It cause skin irritation and eye damage. Would do a water change quick and see if it responds.
