I was wondering the full grown sizes of u guys featherfins in wanting to pick one up heard about 6to8ins but my local fish store earlier today told me a sun cat would get 6 freakin inches what a damn idiot I did research after I listened to him and brought it home my mistake on trusting this dumb **** and also what is the growth rate on these featherfins I figure I better double check

feather fins are synodontis
and the full length of a fish can be ascertained only by knowing what variant it belongs to
again the growth rate depends on the variant not on the family which they belong to

check for synodontis on google
you will find
the angelicus
decorus
eupterus
ocell
nigriventris
and a lot more

Feather fin is the common name for Synodontis Eupterus. They will max out around 8-9".

Here is mine, full grown.

Wow, he is a beauty. Not to hijack or anything, but how old is this guy? What was his growth rate like?

They tend to grow rather quickly. It's possible to grow them to 6-7 inches in less than 8 months if your tank is spacious with clean water and plenty of foods. The downside is these synos are very boisterous fish so most fish won't take well to their presence.

You mean other cats or cichlids? I have a 1.5 inch fella and he is quite the glutten. I often see him lugging around an enormous belly full of NLS pellets. I can see that he is going to be a fast grower.

Would one be ok with an oscar?

I meant the Synodontis eupterus. Bought some at 1.5" and ended up with a bunch of 4-5" gluttons in just 4 months much to my shock. I didn't know at that time they would grow that fast. Yes, they'll be fine with oscars but I'd rather keep it with a full-grown oscar only when it reaches 5-6 inches so it'll be big enough to fend for itself in case it gets harassed.
