Just wanna share I managed to feed my Asian knife and BGK from hand! Well, actually, from the tweezers as it felt icky to handle mealworms by hand. It felt fantastic! :headbang2

how long did it take you, and anything special to accomplish this?
I've gotten almost all my fish (except the plecos and bgk) to eat right from my hand, even mistaking my fingers for food sometimes

Mealworms are full of fat.. they don't have much nutritional benefit at all

still pretty cool though!
:nilly:

Awesome. I fed my CK from hand once...it never did it again. Guess he must've been really hungry that day. :D

Dude whats an asian knife look life? can you provide pics, I really want to see one.

Nothing special really. BGK 11" and Albino Asian K 6". I don't know how old they are but I got them at 10" and 3" respectively.

I feed my knives weekly with a feeder stock that last for about 5 days. I feed them some worms when the stock finishes before a new one is bought.

BGK is always voracious so he eats anything. Since he's almost blind but sensitive to movements, I always offer the mealworms at the same spot by swishing the critter on the water surface. BGK quickly learnt that's where the snack source was.

Asian K likes mealworms, so I found out. I submerged the worm, he swam to it, grabbed and munched it. He'd stop when his tummy's filled.

Don't worry as the mealworms are only occasional treats! But thanks for sharing!

Here's a pic from the Net but the fish ain't mine: http://www.allthingsknife.net/index.php?act=ST&f=3&t=13

Where I'm from, knives are unpopular. Not many aquarists keep one except for people like me (They prefer arowanas). So, I haven't meet any knife enthusiast here yet except for folks like you all over the world.

CKs are commonly sold; followed by BGKs and RK. Asian K are rare. With exception of my Albino AK, the knives are affordable - average S$2.50 per fish 4" long. My Albino cost me S$10 at 3", which was expensive.

What about your home country?

right on! It's great to feed them by hand. I got mine doing it about 2 weeks ago. He started coming to the top for food. He used to always stay low and feed, but lately, as he's getting bigger, he comes up for food. So I started dangling freeze dried krill at the surface for him. He started chomping it right from my fingers. I've also touched his back a few times. He doesn't seem to mind. I think he knows me.

I used to work in a pet shop where a co-worker hand fed our 2" Clown Knife. As much as I would like one that size...hearing that jaw snap, I wouldn never want to hand feed one that size :grinno:
