Good or bad idea? this was the first time i had done it and I only did it as a treat. But it was awsome to watch.... it was one of those 2 dollar african dwarf frogs and he gobbled it up, but it kept crawling out of his mouth. He got it though.

THats awesome, i dont see anything wrong with it, bass eats frogs in the natural habitat. only bad thing would be the frogs clawws scratchin the fish, no biggie

Whats next? babe ducks? i cant wait tell mine is that big! to eat bigger stuff.. i gave him a bee last night.

Though ADF are harmless be cautious about collecting frogs for your bass, there are many toxic species out there. Namely toads but a good number of frogs as well. Research the item before you use it as food.

yeah, id stear clear of exotic type frogs. ie any kind of tree frog. stick with native pond frogs

Not all of those are safe either, the first one that comes to mind is the wood frog, a pretty common species. I cannot think of many others, most should be safe, make sure you know what it is and if it's toxic or not first.

whats a wood frog? like a tree frog?

While they do spend a lot of time on land, mostly in wooded habitats (go figure) they aren't a tree frog. You have probably seen them before and just not known what they were. They breed pretty early, before spring peepers even. Their call kinda sounds like turkeys IMO. They are the only frog found north of the Artic circle.

Gray treefrogs are also another species that come to mind. Most frogs in the U.S. won't kill the predator but may cause burning skin or eye irritation in humans. A fish would probably spit it out but it's not really worth the risk IMO. It's better to know what your dealing with.
