idk if this has been done before but im just fed up and furious at those who think that piranhas are vicious flesh eaters and will attack anyone or anything that swims near them. The one thing that just pushed me over the edge was the history channel's monsterquest about piranhas in the lake of the ozarks:screwy:. I mean anyone who knows anything at all about piranhas knows that they need warm water. excuse me for my ranting just a little ticked off :irked:

i understand. i tried to educate my friends when i had rbps, that when i put my hands in the tank they didnt bite, and that they're actually omnivores. even had a fact sheet printed out about their diet and behavior. still couldnt convince them that they're mostly harmless. got a rhom now though, so no more careless hands in the tank.

eh,. i like the reputation except when they're banned in a city they wouldn't be able to survive in. makes for a better WOW factor when you tell people you have them

i can understand the wow factor but honestly they think theyre in the lake of the ozarks i go there over 100 days a year for the past 13 years and i know that every year in the winter that the water gets well below 40 degrees it just kinda made me p.o.'d

i agree. but that would be cool if they were vicious flesh eaters like they are depicted.

wasn't that the lake that several piranhas have been pulled out of the water, probably released? Didn't the show prove that their body shuts down once it reaches somewhere below 55 degrees?

i remember the last time this subject came up, one of our members here on mfk said they lived close to it. they mentioned that the piranhas were all caught near a powerplant. i haven't actually seen the episode, just remember us discussing it in the past.

I agree with you 100%. Especially the film 'Piranha 3D' annoys me. When I tell my friends that I fed my Flowerhorn a goldfish or a pinky they instantly say ''Is that a type of piranha?". I get really annoyed when people do that. We need something big to educate people!
