I have a 3,500g pond in my back yard with some feeder goldfish that have been in it for about 9 months now (overwinter). The largest are about 4" now, the smallest about 2.5".

Anyways, I was standing next to the pond talking to my dad about landscaping, and we hear a splash. So we look over to the water fall, and there are 4-5 comets trying to swim UP the waterfall :screwy:. None of them made it more than a couple inches above the level of the pond, but one of the largest comets launched itself through the air, and hit the waterfall about 12" up from the edge of the pond. He wasn't quite far enough to get into a small pool above the water fall, but he was close. He got swept back into the pond, but they all kept trying for about 5 minutes before they gave up and swam away.

Anyone else seen this kind of behavior from comets? I wish I'd had a camera close by to record it. I'll try to catch it on video one of these days. It was awesome!

spawning activity? idk comets are dumb but look nice and proly do stupid things lol

I don't think it's spawning activity, they're still too small to be breeding. I think they just think there's somewhere to go up the waterfall. Maybe they want to live in the bog filter under all the plants...

ha maybe its the new evolution of commets, they are returning to there birth place to spawn:ROFL:

Ive only had bullheads do that to me in the HOB filters haha
