I have a 3,500g pond in my back yard with some feeder goldfish that have been in it for about 9 months now (overwinter). The largest are about 4" now, the smallest about 2.5".
Anyways, I was standing next to the pond talking to my dad about landscaping, and we hear a splash. So we look over to the water fall, and there are 4-5 comets trying to swim UP the waterfall
. None of them made it more than a couple inches above the level of the pond, but one of the largest comets launched itself through the air, and hit the waterfall about 12" up from the edge of the pond. He wasn't quite far enough to get into a small pool above the water fall, but he was close. He got swept back into the pond, but they all kept trying for about 5 minutes before they gave up and swam away.
Anyone else seen this kind of behavior from comets? I wish I'd had a camera close by to record it. I'll try to catch it on video one of these days. It was awesome!
