I've been throwing in shrimp culls in my cichlid tank as free food. this seems to keep them busy for a few hours and hunting rather than squabbling. Shrimp take time to breed though, what would be a more efficient live feeder to keep?
Everything takes time to breed.
Mollies and guppies tend to be the best for dithers/feeders, as they reproduce fast and are a natural tankmate to many Central American cichlids.
