By batch counting:

Egg/larvae count per female-> # of spawns per larval grow-out bin-># of larval grow-out bins to juvenile grow-out pond-># of juvenile pond batches to sub-adult grow-out pond-> adults

Adults are easiest at ~150 per grow-out bin or roughly 150lbs of crayfish per 450 gal bin. I'll have to come up with another counting system once the 26 foot raceways are installed.

Additional note to the last post..... but does anyone else actually breed their own feeders?
I have read about people breeding convicts, guppies, zebra (danios).
What would make the ideal feeder breeder?

I keep convicts. As anyone would know, they breed like mad. I keep seperate tanks for the babies, when they are too big for the parents care. I don't have enough to stifle the flow of dirty little goldfish, though. I am just getting started, too, so right now it's not helping at all. But it gives me an excuse to have another tank. Besides that, convicts, or just about anything, really, will be better for my big guys, and since I raised them, I know the feeder/convicts will be healthy.
