I have a 1g with a 10g filter, what is the best feeder for a clown knife, fire eel and datnoid?

How long should i quarantine them for?

What is the most sensible choice for feeders?

How many should i buy at a time?

How often should they be fed?

Thanks

I would go with convicts....

If you happen to live close enough to the ocean, bring a bait fish cast net and you will have thousands of spearings at your disposal. Richer in nutrition than anything available from the pet shop. I live in New York and fish off long island waters, and my piranhas gets live fish daily, whatever I could catch and doesn't want to eat myself, from bunkers, herrings, small bluefish to 5 lbs skates and 50+ lbs stingrays. Note that I don't have a boat, and I'm only fishing off the piers.

1g.. won't be large enough to house enough feeders to properly maintain either a breeding colony of feeders or quarantine much of anything for long enough to feed. That being said your CK and Dat will enjoy most any type of live fish. depending on their current size guppies/mollys then convicts are excelent choices for home bred feeders. I would use a minimum tank size of 10 gals. but ideally suggest a 20L. imo you can never have to many feeders and the CK alone will eat large amounts. Never kept a Dat but heard they are also voracious eaters. Fire eels ime are picky eaters, depenign what yours is eating trying to encourage a variety of foods is ideal. frozen, live, freezedried. same with your other fish.

Thanks for the input, i have a 12g quarantine, i guess after i actually have the fish there really wont be a need for a QT tank, and if i want to add any other fish i just wait until the live fish stock is all the way down

A 1 gallon tank is fine for goldfish crackers, its not suitable for live fish.

I wouldn't give feeder fish to any fish I cared about. They are so full of diseases and parasites..... a 6-8 week QT would help, but I still wouldn't do it.

You can set up a 30 gallon tank with 6 guppies in it..... wait 3 months and start feeding 3-4 adult guppies a week to your fish. Wait 3 more months and you can feed 8-10 adult guppies a week out of that tank. No diseases to worry about.

Its cheaper, is safer and its easier.... why buy feeders?

:iagree:

why don't you just feed your fish shrimp or something healthier than feeders? ck's, fire eels, and dats eat shrimp, tilapia, and sometimes even pellets with relish.
