I know that feeding live goldfish is bad for fish for a number of reasons but is there any other speices of minnows that has nutrients and doesnt carry as much diesease. I think I came across someone saying convict cichlid fry work better to feed but idk and you would have to breed them yourself. Any suggetions ?

....as much disease? There is a chart around here somewhere which lists the minnow species as well as other fish that contain thiaminase.Convicts can be bred for feeders but you will probably need a big head start and multiple breeding pairs. What fish are you considering feeding?

Breeding fish just for food and you don't have the fish or setup already I don't see it worth it trying to start if you already have extra fry all the time why not ..why must you feed live???

one of my relatives grows out convicts so its really only reasonable for me. My dovii and jaguar cichlids(s). jordy have you had any probs with the guppies like diseases and such. I think its just me but i feel like they take there anger out on the minnows so i dont have any conflicts in the tank haha.

I thought livebearers were thiamanase free. If you are buying feeders, you probably will have issues with parasites/bacteria, no matter the species. If you raise your own, you probably won't.

Those two cichlids shouldn't be too hard to train to eat pellets, that way you won't have to be bothered with the risk and hassle of using feeders.

Jordy has no problems with fancy feeder guppys...they are breeding like rabbits...

It would take quite a few guppies to satisfy a Dovii.
