Feeder frogs?

iv never heard of frogs for live food neither would i use them. goldfish put a hole in your fish head. rosy red minnows are better then gold fish but i would say one of the best is shrimp, worms. live frozen or freeze dried. i feed my big oscars and jaguars freeze dried shrimp, pellets and frozen shrimp every once in a while.

Ive always wondered esp about the african frogs that are 2$. Id feel tooo bad tho. Personally eating is just life and i dont get off on it, pellets and the occasional feeder fish(small) works for my pygos!

Still would be cool tho

I would not feed frogs. Most frogs generate slime that can harm your fish. They can also bloat their bodies when swalloed and your fish chokes to death.

as Darius said frogs do have a slime coat and could harm your fish also why spend the money to feed frogs when pellets, freeze dried and frozen foods are cheaper and tend to be healthier for you fish.

Rosy reds are just as bad as goldfis

Why spend money if you can catch your own frogs to toss in the tanks lol maybe try catching some tadpoles

Bullfrogs and their tadpoles secrete toxins that can be dangerous to fish. Pickerel frog adults also carry venom glands that provide venom to their slime coat. However, pickerel frog tadpoles are not toxic until they become legged.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm looking for a live feeder I can give to my rtc every once in a while when he's 2'+. I do feed him primarily pellets and frozen shrimp, but ive read that they enjoy the thrill of the hunt and the occasional live food is good for them.
